Rich Wilde and the Tome of Dead Slot Review: RTP, Features and Free Demo
Our score: 7.7/10
Quick verdict: Tome of Dead puts Rich Wilde back in an Egyptian tomb on a 5x5 cluster grid. Wins charge four rituals that end in the Banishment Free Spin, led by Ammit the Devourer, a 2x2 Wild that walks the grid. It plays almost exactly like Tome of Insanity, which is both its strength and its weakness.

What is Tome of Dead?
Rich Wilde and the Tome of Dead was released on . Rich stands beside the grid with an open book while canopic jars, ankhs and gods fill a 5x5 grid in a golden tomb. The villain is Ammit, the Egyptian demon who devours the hearts of the unworthy.
Under the theme, it's a cluster-pays game with cascades, a four-step charge meter and a single big free spin. If you've played Tome of Insanity, you'll notice the paytable is identical and the four steps trigger at the same counts: 8, 16, 30 and 48. Only the names, the art and the big Wild change.

Symbols and cluster pays
The Pharaoh pays the most: 2x your bet for a cluster of 4, up to 100x for 10 or more. Anubis, Horus and the ankh follow. Four canopic jars make up the low end at 0.1x to 6x. Wins come from 4 or more matching symbols touching each other, and winning symbols drop away to let new ones fall in.

Features: Wilds, Rituals and Banishment
Three Wilds
The Altar Wild can trigger a ritual. The Multiplier Wild carries 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x in the base game and 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x in the bonus, and the highest one applies when several land. Ammit the Devourer is a 2x2 Wild that moves across the grid 3 times.
The four rituals
Every winning symbol adds a charge. At 8 charges, Protection places 2 to 4 Altar Wilds. At 16, Devour adds 2 to 4 more Altar Wilds, and a win with them destroys symbols at set spots around them. At 30, Judgement upgrades a canopic jar into a statue. At 48, the meter opens the Banishment Free Spin.
The Banishment Free Spin
Banishment starts with 3 ritual effects. Every 4 extra winning symbols add one more, up to 7. A ritual fires each time the cascades stop, and the round ends when they're all used. Twelve All-Seeing Eyes sit on the grid: open them all to summon Ammit. The 6 special eyes upgrade him with 2x, 3x or 4x multipliers.
RTP, volatility and max win
The top RTP is 96.21%, the same as Book of Dead's. In theory, every $100 wagered returns $96.21 over millions of spins. Lower versions exist, so check the info screen at your casino.
The rules screen says "Win up to 5000x your bet": $500 at $0.10 and $5,000 at $1. Reviewers rate it medium volatility, so expect more frequent small wins than in Book of Dead and a bonus that's easier to see coming on the meter.
Same paytable, same charge points, same structure. Choose by theme: Egypt and Ammit here, or a haunted library and Yog-Sothoth in Tome of Insanity. The RTPs differ by just 0.01 points.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Rich Wilde back in Egypt, with polished art
- The meter shows exactly how close the bonus is
- Multipliers up to 10x in the bonus
What we don't
- A reskin of Tome of Insanity in all but name
- Lots of rules for a casual player
- The single free spin can end quickly
Our verdict: is Tome of Dead worth playing?
A good cluster game for Book of Dead fans who want Egypt with more going on.
Tome of Dead takes a proven engine and dresses it for the Book of Dead audience. The rituals give every win a purpose, and the Banishment spin can chain into something big when Ammit arrives with a multiplier.
We score it a little below Tome of Insanity only because it adds nothing new. If you haven't played either, pick the theme you prefer.
